Concept of Lean Production
Lean Production, also called Lean Manufacturing, is a set of tools and methodologies that accelerate the flow of the production process by eliminating all kinds of waste in the process. The main benefits are; increased output, shorter production lead times, lower production costs, reduced space and better planning.
Another way of looking at Lean Production is that it aims to achieve the same output with less inputs – less time, less space, less human effort, less machinery, less materials and less costs.
One of the most important aspects of Lean Production is that it focuses on long-term organizational learning. Through continuous Kaizen (improvement) activities, managers, supervisors and even operators will share the philosophy.

There are many consultants who can teach the Lean methodologies. However, your goal must not be the application of these techniques. Needless to say, financial result must be realized, but this is not enough. A sustainable competitive advantage that continuously generate the financial excellence should be developed. It is easy to tell the concept and theory of Lean Production. There are many books and lectures concerned with Lean Production. However, very few companies can achieve their goal through Lean activities by themselves. The Following are typical hurdles in the execution of a Lean Project:

  • Organizational conflict
  • Immature project leader
  • Vague assignment of project members
Because JMAC consultants place much importance on the implementation, we can assume many roles : trainers, analyst, facilitators of discussion, coordinators between organizations, spokesmen for top management and independent assessors, etc. Using our experience consultants, many of our clients have enjoyed goals attainment through their Lean Production project.
 
Standard Procedure of Lean Production Consulting
Before starting the consulting, JMAC consultants usually visit client's office / plants and have a preliminary meeting with top managers and project leaders. We discuss their business characteristics, current situation, targets, management style, current problems, and how to overcome them, etc.

After the meeting, we organize the ideal consulting team which has sufficient skills and experiences in the consulting theme and industry. Then we make the consulting proposal suggesting the consulting theme, project team (organized by client's staff and the consultants), basic schedule and consulting fee.

We usually have the opportunity to present our consulting proposal. When the client accepts the proposal, we proceed with the consulting.

Clients can take advantage of our plant diagnosis. Though it is a chargeable service, it is quite helpful to understand their current level of Lean Production compared with global manufacturers, and to get some new Kaizen ideas for your Lean production.
